A comprehensive schedule of exhibits, talks, pop-up dinners, tours, seminars, and fundraising events has been announced by the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) for the year 2018. (Monterey, California, October 29, 2017) — A comprehensive schedule of exhibits, talks, pop-up dinners, tours, seminars, and fundraising events has been announced by the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) for the year 2018. Along with the popular Miniatures exhibition that runs from November through December, the “Brews for A Cause” fundraiser that takes place in November, and “Christmas in the Adobes” that takes place in December, the 2018 calendar also includes the Art in Bloom Gala, which takes place on April 28. Family Days are held in February, June, August, October, and December to celebrate the holidays. A number of exhibitions are scheduled to launch in 2018, including: 2018 The Coburn Gallery will host the Weston Scholarship from May 10th to July 8th. Our Ocean’s Edge, exhibited at Outcalt Gallery from June 14th to September 10th Beginning on May 24 and continuing until August 27, E. Charlton Fortune: The Colorful Spirit, Work, and Outcalt Gallery The New Domestic (part 1), was shown at the Coburn and Entry Galleries from July 20th to October 28th. Salon Jane, Outcalt Gallery, from August 16th to November 11th Work Gallery featured “The New Domestic” (part 2) from September 13th to October 28th. Work Gallery, Miniatures, November 16th through December 16th There is a list below that details the programs that will be offered in 2018 as well as the months in which they will meet. The dates are subject to change at any time. February Family Day – February Pop-Up Dinner – January Lecture Series – February Family Day – February Dinner at a Pop-Up Cafe – March Art in Bloom Gala will take place on April 28. Family Day in May, Family Day in June, School Tours from August to May, and Afternoon Art Clubs from August to May are all events that will be included in the Lecture Series. Annual Training for Docents, September and October This October is Family Day. Series of Fall Lectures — October and November November and December miniatures Pop-Up Dinner — The Month of November Trustees from the Past Luncheon – Month of November Fundraiser for Brews for a Cause, held in November or December Information Regarding the Monterey Museum of Art Inspiring appreciation of California art from the past, present, and future, the Monterey Museum of Art contributes to the expansion of a love for the visual arts. Lately, the Museum played home to the exhibition Edward Weston: Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist, which served as the opening venue. Additionally, recently, the exhibition Who Shot Monterey Pop! made its premiere. Images taken during the 1967 Music Festival on June 2, 2017, as captured by photographers. With a focus on interactive experiences that are constructed around the Museum’s extensive collection of California and regional art, the Monterey Museum of Art serves as a place where art and community are brought together. Visitors are intended to be engaged and inspired by the exhibitions and events that are of the greatest quality. By collecting, conserving, and exhibiting works of art from California and the Central Coast, the Museum was founded in 1959 with the intention of celebrating the creative heritage of the area. The Museum of Modern Art (MMA) is the only museum between San Jose and Santa Barbara that has received national accreditation. It was once a branch of the American Federation of the Arts.
