Since I was a little child, Christmas has always been synonymous with at least one of these two varieties of poppy seed treats. Food memories are among the most powerful, and we tend to keep with us throughout our lives a passion for certain cuisines that we have had throughout our whole lives. For me, poppy seeds have always been a culinary memory that is connected with family, convivial visits and sharing, laughing and gaiety, and they bring back warm recollections of so many lovely Christmases that have passed in the past.
