Thanks to Neehar Mishra courtesy of the National Library of America The ‘offices with terraces’ that were developed by Nicolas Laisné and Associates are certain to enhance the quality of life at the place of employment because of their one-of-a-kind structural design, which places an emphasis on the seamless integration of the internal and exterior environments. Offices that facilitate a more informal, collaborative, and practical approach to work have become the need of the future. This is because the professional environment is transitioning towards a more informal, collaborative, and practical approach to work. This is accomplished through the use of more open spaces, minimal clutter, and improved approachability and flexibility. In an effort to give this vision the respect it deserves, architects Nicolas Laisné and Dimitri Roussel have designed offices with terraces in the Nice Méridia Urban Technopole in France. They have also taken into consideration other important aspects, such as sustainability, a commitment to the environment, and the efficient and aesthetic use of space. The building, which is expected to be finished in 2018, will have 6,400 square meters of office space and 600 square meters of retail space on the ground level. This is a significant departure from the conventional silo-like boxy office designs often used. As an alternative, the design integrates the interior and outdoor surroundings, so generating a synergy between the two in order to provide a workstation that is friendly and casual. For example, the corridors have been relocated to the facade, rendering them totally open to the public garden area. Additionally, the stairs have been designed to provide panoramic views of the surrounding vegetation. In point of fact, the facade on each side has been modified in such a way that it offers the required protection from the sunshine. This, in turn, allows for an abundance of natural light, ventilation, and an improvement in the temperature within the building. The construction is not only suitable for the climate of the Mediterranean, but it also complies with green building standards. It makes use of the smart grids approach for electrical distribution and adheres to environmental recommendations that have been established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The outside, which is glassy and stark white, will be covered with plants, which will mean that its look and color will change in accordance with the changing of the seasons. The platforms, which are centered on posts and beams, provide a significant amount of open space that has the potential to be used as individual offices, barriers, or modular workstations. As a result, they are an excellent option for any sort of workplace. With an increasing focus on eco-friendly, natural, and minimalist interiors, the concept establishes a new standard for bio-climatic workplaces without making any concessions in terms of the aesthetic value or the utility of the space.
