Ewout huibers for concrete and zoku may be seen in this compilation of photographs by Pari Syal. The younger generation of business travelers enjoys combining their job with their leisure time. Concrete, an architecture company, has come up with a creative approach to meet the growing number of needs of the future generation. The first Zoku location will open in Amsterdam in the fourth quarter of 2015. Bookings will begin in July of 2015. With 133 rooms or zoku lofts, each of which spans two sizes – 5.1 meters by 5.1 meters and 3.6 meters by 7.2 meters – the emphasis of the conventional hotel room transfers from the sleeping area to the work area, where a working table for four takes center stage. When you stay at Zoku, you get much more than simply a room at a hotel. It is a micro-apartment that is rather roomy. Each zoku loft is a fashionable combination of open space and pull-out furniture modules, and it incorporates all of the functions and demands of the global nomad into an intelligent interior module that increases the sensation of spaciousness and usefulness. The emphasis is placed on the most efficient use of space. zoku, which is Japanese for family, tribe, or clan, is envisioned as a hybrid home-office space that combines the amenities of a hotel with the social activity of a flourishing neighborhood. For the purpose of fostering social ties, Zoku will include a variety of social places that will make it easier for inhabitants of Zoku to engage with members of the surrounding community. Conversations and informal meetings will be able to take place in open-plan community living and co-working areas that are available around the clock. Additionally, a residential living kitchen will provide the opportunity to eat a meal together or to organize small dinner parties when the need arises. zoku promises to uncover new prospects in the hotel business by eliminating the waste of space, resources, and time, as well as by promulgating an effective working environment. This would herald the end of the hotel room as we once knew it! The photographs of the new hotel may be seen on indiaartndesign.com; to view them, click here.
