The selling of figure paintings was one of Renoir’s strong suits. The majority of the individuals he depicts in his paintings are students from lower social strata, ranging from street ladies to dancers. The evil aspect of society is shown in several of his works, which are a critique of the reality that exists. It is especially noticeable that their arms are glowing with a soft pink color, which conveys the joy that they feel from the very depths of their hearts. Children are the only ones who can experience that type of joy. On the stage in the middle of the performance area, there are two acrobats who are dressed in golden stage costumes and have golden bow-knots on their heads. The girl on the left side of the picture is facing the audience with her body. Both of her hands are raised in the air. It would seem that she is committing the motions that she is about to do to memory. The second young lady, who is holding a large number of red balls in her palm, tilts her head to the same way. It would seem that she is contemplating something of great significance. The emotions on each of their faces are anxious, despite the fact that their gestures are distinct. As a result of their expressionless eyes and furrowed brows, we are able to deduce that they are not as content as we had anticipated. It’s possible that they are anxious about the performance, or maybe they are thinking about how difficult their life is. It was Mrs. Parma who made the contribution to Chicago of these acrobats performing at the Cirque Fernando Francisca and Angelina Wartenber. Among the several impressionist paintings that Mrs. Parma gave to the city of Chicago, this particular piece is her own favorite.
