By udita chaturvedi With more than three decades of experience in the field, interior and furniture designer lalit hira has used his creative abilities to produce difficult and important designs all around the globe. In 1984, he founded project designers, an interior design consultation business, and around twenty years later, he formed lalit hira designs, a furniture design label. His official education in interior designing came from england. Lalit Hira is an innovative designer who has modeled residential, commercial, and corporate properties. Each of his works is a high-quality reflection of the interaction of thinking and talent, and as a result, his work is suitable for display in the homes and workplaces of anybody. Lalit Hira is exhibiting his design prowess at the London Design Festival 2013 (ldf 2013) with two products: a folding chair and a footstool. He is a member of the contingent of designers and artists exhibiting under the india pavilion at designerblock. The ‘tac’ chair is a folding chair that is meant to be lightweight, simple to use, and save space. It also has an appealing appearance that is both traditional and modern, and it is intended to mix in with any setting. In contrast to the majority of other folding chairs, which must be propped up against something in order to maintain their upright position while folded, this chair can stand on its own when it’s folded up. Lalit’s creative and forward-thinking designs have earned him acclaim and nominations all around the world. In the last five years, he has designed, prototyped, registered, and acquired ownership of six different pieces of furniture, and he has two pending patents. His furniture has the singularity of a designer-label while yet being able to fit easily into the mainstream market because of its individuality, beauty, multi-functionality, and easy on the pocketbook. The ‘puchka’ footstool, so called after a well-known north Indian street snack, is built using simple joinery features that do not need the use of any hardware at any point in the process. The footstool is a concept that expands the usage of the raw material in a flexi-flat pack version. Additionally, the shape of the footstool confronts the fundamental limitation of the fabrication of soft surfaces. In addition to being a master at space planning and the design of furniture, he is also a guru when it comes to the preparation of lighting layouts, landscape layouts, and the beautifying of building facades.
