Pvdrs, which stands for Patel Vadodaria Design Research Studio, is located in Ahmedabad. Megha Patel-Vadodaria and Keyur Vadodaria are responsible for the artful design of the interiors and landscape of a farmhouse and its poolside, thereby bringing together a single environment that can be utilized for multiple purposes. Within the confines of one of the most environmentally friendly 18-hole Nicklaus design golf courses in India is where you will find the farmhouse, which was developed by the architects of kbg development. Taking into consideration the fact that the farmhouse is home to a vast and varied group that includes three generations, the designers have successfully met the task of providing a multiplicity of spatial experiences. Pvdrs has built axial links via the interior of the farmhouse to the outside and the landscape beyond, putting spatial components to their greatest use. This was done in order to take use of the overpowering nature of its surroundings. The baja shelf’s alignment with the ‘floating’ champa planter in the pool forms the secondary axis, which is diametrically perpendicular to the primary axis. This is in contrast to the fact that the pool, swim-up bar, al fresco seating, and the gazebo all share an axial relationship with the dining area and the ninth hole. This spatial link is further strengthened by the entrance that leads directly from the dining area into the garden sitting area and the bar that is located on the swim-up level. The living room serves as a space for entertainment and provides versatility in terms of design, allowing for a variety of different seating arrangements. While the client’s collection of artworks is utilized to deliberately define the areas in which they find themselves, the neutral color palette that is employed inside assists the client in commanding the place that they deserve. The family area on the top level is given a little more personality thanks to the wall painting that was developed in consultation with the customer. A well-shaded and expansive outdoor living area is provided by the living veranda, which has been expanded by cantilevering one of its sides over the pool. A material palette consisting of Brazilian ipe wood with an oil finish is used to construct the wooden deck, and river-washed granite is used to surround the pool. Teak wood that has been hand-polished, granite, backlit onyx stone, and hand-woven cloth are the most prominent elements in the view field within. One of the most notable aspects of the project is the overflow channel constructed around the circumference of the pool. This channel is structured in such a way that the water seems to float at deck level. In the realm of pool design, this extremely demanding element, which is referred to as the “lautner knife edge,” produces an experience that is unparalleled. Strong spatial linkages are reflected in the project’s design, which is simple yet intelligent, and it is designed to ideally and harmoniously respond to a range of preferences for both aesthetics and functionality.
