It is indisputable that music has the power to transform our thoughts and feelings; this statement cannot be refuted. Through its facade-correction project, the a. len architect bureau has used this wand to visually modify and characterize the lighthouse known as “the musician” in the city of Vologda in the Russian Federation. Each of seven suns development’s three projects, “mi vmeste” (which translates to “we’re together” in 2013), “the musician” (2014), and “tvoi okna” (which means “your windows” and is currently under construction), has a soul and spirit that is uniquely its own. “the lightful house” is a new concept of living space that was developed by seven suns development. Additionally, the concept of “finding harmony” is represented by the word “lightful,” which is naturally indicative of the light, the sun, cheeriness, and warmth. The typical, characterless ‘boxes for housing’ developments that have mushroomed over the city are being replaced by this idea, which portrays itself as a much-needed alternative. “the musician” stands out with its vibrancy, in the middle of a monotony of faceless dwellings, with its project marketing idea, which is “the notes of his love alter the world!” The structure, which is a rectangular shape with a basement and ten stories, is divided into four pieces, with each portion having a maximum size of five hundred square meters each. Through the use of a technique known as “multi-purpose jointless ossature,” it has been erected without the need of girders and the “cube 2.5 system” of joints. With a heat retainer of 15 centimeters, the monolithic frame is heat-insulated. Above this level, a ventilated facade that has curtain wall panels of varying colors has been installed. A team led by architect Sergey Oreshkin worked on the proposed structure, which was comprised of straightforward cubes with several stories. They did this by splitting the space into stripes and squares, which resulted in the creation of a unique rhythm. A complex facade was created by coloring the crisscross of volumes that were acquired in this manner. These volumes were colored according to the lines of Russian avant-garde music, which is well known as “the frozen music.” In order to decorate the facade, decorative musical notes that have been stylized and taken from the actual tune have been employed. The lyrics of the song “where’s my dark-eyed love?” were written by M. Matusovskiy, while B. Makrousov made the composition. ‘The musician’ is adorned with the phrase “in Vologda, where else?”, which has become an informal hymn of Vologda city. This is because there is a specific feeling of belongingness to the city that takes place in the thoughts of the people who live there.
