This grille provides a view of the two-dimensional, golden portrayal of the Buddha’s face. The visitor begins their journey at the entryway. Once inside, the furniture and fittings made of dark Sheesham wood, the carved legs of the couch, traditional Warli paintings on the chairs, and brass fixtures all show the intention of incorporating a traditional touch into a modern setting. Throughout the whole of the house, it seems that brass and timber laminates are the predominant themes. They make their appearance in the temple through a variety of ethnic elements, such as brass bells and decorative pieces, which serve to balance its contemporary form. These elements can be found in the kitchen, the dining area, the television panel, and the dressing table in the bedroom, all of which are examples of a simple yet chic aesthetic. Two elements that stand out and clearly veer towards the classic touch are the commanding bougainvillea wallpaper that adds a touch of lavishness to the otherwise subdued living room and the Moroccan tilework that anoints niches and coves in the bedroom, softening the unsympathetic linearity of its clean corners and sharp lines; and in the bathrooms, highlighting the clear distinction between dry and wet areas, accentuating their spa-like feel with back-lit mirrors and niches.
